TimlyuyCement Expands Product Line With Special Cement

Sibcem’s TimlyuyCement plant received a certificate for the production of sulfate-resistant low-alkaline Portland cement CEM I 42.5N SR LA, which is used in the construction of bridge supports and hydraulic structures. The Company decided to reintroduce this cement into its product line in October 2020.

“Receiving this document can open up new opportunities for us. In the past, the TimlyuyCement has already produced sulfate-resistant cement. In particular, in the 1990s, the company shipped products for the construction of water facilities on Sakhalin Island and in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Our cement was also used in the construction of the Bratsk Hydroelectric Power Station, as well as the bridge over the Selenga River in the Kabansky District in 2007. In modern conditions, we count on the further development of the Far Eastern Federal District, the implementation of large infrastructure projects using cement products. The enterprise is ready to produce and deliver it on time to construction sites in the region,” emphasizes Vladimir Klichko, Managing Director of TimlyuyCement.

The main feature of CEM I 42.5N SR LA is a low alkali content in the clinker composition. To provide it, you need a special limestone, which is rarely found in the Tarakanovskoye deposit. The specialists of TimlyuyCement worked out more than 20 boreholes before finding the necessary raw materials, later it was stored in a separate area to avoid mixing with highly alkaline limestone.

In the production of sulfate-resistant clinker, it is necessary to strictly maintain the mineralogical composition, the content of tricalcium aluminate (C3A) should not exceed 3.5 %. To achieve this indicator, fly ash was not added to the raw sludge. As a result of the decrease in the content of aluminum oxide, the chemical composition of the raw mixture has completely changed. Selected samples of cement produced in November 2020 were sent to the accredited laboratory of the Siberian Research Institute of the Cement Industry in Krasnoyarsk. According to GOST, the maximum indicator for the content of alkaline oxides should not exceed 0.6 %. The test report of the supervisory authority showed the value of 0.46 % in alkaline oxides content. All standardized GOST 22266-2013 indicators for this type of cement were met. After confirming the compliance of the products with the necessary requirements, the company was issued a certificate for Portland cement CEM I 42.5N SR AL.
