In 2020, Ukrainian enterprises produced 9.54 million tons of cement, which is 7.2 % more than in 2019. The volume of cement production in December increased by 18.9 % compared to December 2019 and amounted to 516,300 tons.
The volume of clinker production in 12 months of 2020 increased by 2.4 % compared to the same period last year and amounted to 7.42 million tons. The volume of clinker production in December increased by 8 % compared to last December and amounted to 612,500 tons.
The volume of ready-mixed concrete production in 12 months of 2020 decreased by 5.2 %, to 16.53 million tons. In December 2020, Ukrainian enterprises produced 1.46 million tons of ready-mixed concrete, which is 4.2 % less than in December 2019.
The production of quicklime increased by 6.1 % in January-December and amounted to 2,34 million tons. The volume of production of quicklime in December increased by 20.1 % compared to December 2019 and amounted to 216,000 tons.
The introduction of import duties for Belarusian and Moldovian clinker and cement, along with the ban of Russian cement products on August 1, 2019, boosted the demand for local products. Duties for all goods from Moldova (including cement) were set at 94.46 %, and duties for all goods from Belarus (including cement) were set at 57.03 %. More than 80 % of cement imports are products of Turkish enterprises.
