Ukraine Increased Cement Imports From Turkey in H1 2020 Twenty Times YoY

At the end of January-June 2020, 514,300 tons cement were imported to Ukraine from Turkey, 20 times increase compared to H1 2019. The import value increased 11.6 times, up to $ 21.4 million. Ukraine also began to purchase clinker from Turkey, importing 3,000 tons worth $ 79,000 in H1 2020.

The import volumes of Portland cement increased 85 times over the same period last year, to 494,700 tons. The import value of Portland cement increased 88 times, to $ 20.2 million. 

Ukraine also imported (from Turkey):

  • White portland cement, whether or not artificially coloured — 13,600 tons in the amount of $ 914,700 (32 % and 43 % lower than over the corresponding period last year, respectively);
  • Cement, whether or not coloured (excl. portland cement and aluminous cement) — 6,000 tons for the amount of $ 243,000 (463 and 31 times more than in the same period last year, respectively);
  • Alumina cement — 24 tons worth $ 5,200 (2.5 times more than in the same period last year).
