In January-October 2020, Ukrainian enterprises produced 8.16 million tons of cement, which is 5.4 % more than in January-October 2019. The volume of cement production in October increased by 1.6 % compared to October 2019 and amounted to 959,100 tons.
In ten months of 2020 Ukrainian enterprises increased clinker production volume by 2.2 % YoY, up to 6.14 million tons. The volume of clinker production in October decreased by 2 % compared to October 2019 and amounted to 684,600 tons.
Quicklime production volume in January-October increased by 2.8 % and amounted to 1.92 million tons. Quicklime production in October increased by 5.6 % compared to last October and amounted to 189,900 tons.
The introduction of import duties for Belarusian and Moldovian clinker and cement, along with the ban of Russian cement products on August 1, 2019, boosted the demand for local products. Duties for all goods from Moldova (including cement) were set at 94.46 %, and duties for all goods from Belarus (including cement) were set at 57.03 %. More than 80 % of cement imports are products of Turkish enterprises.
