The measures taken at the Reddipalayam Cement Works, a full-cycle cement plant in Tamil Nadu, owned by UltraTech Cement Ltd, a member of the Aditya Birla Group, have significantly increased the waste share in the plant's fuel mix. Today, a quarter of its fuel needs are met by recycling waste from local municipalities.
In the fiscal year from April 1 to March 31, 2021, UltraTech provided 17.2% of its raw materials for cement production and 3.7% of thermal energy through the use of alternative resources.
