The Armenian government has decided to lift the temporary ban on cement imports from third countries.

A joint economic meeting between Afghan and Iranian trade delegations in Farah, Afghanistan, has finalized a contract to buy 50,000 tonnes of cement worth $2.5 million.

According to an announcement by the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, Abbas Abdolkhani said cargo shipments between Iran’s Dayyer Port and Qatar’s Al Ruwais Port had restarted following efforts by the Iranian embassy in Doha and coordination with Qatari authorities.

The introduction of an 85-percent electricity restriction for Iran’s cement industry could disrupt cement production and distribution, said Ali Akbar Alvandian, Secretary General of the Association of Cement Industry Employers.

Iran has started exporting clinker to Turkey by rail from the Hashtgerd station, located near the cement plant in Abyek.

Iranian media report shows cement and steel factories across the country have been ordered to halt their production for the next two weeks starting May 15th to control demand for electricity.
