Cement Plants of Kyrgyzstan Increase Production to 2 Million tpa

Cement plants in the Kyrgyz Republic showed an increase in production by 3.9% over the past year — up to 2 million tons. The increase was driven by the growing cement demand in neighboring Uzbekistan. In January-December 2018, enterprises of the republic produced 1.93 million tons of cement.

Meanwhile, the production of ready-mixed concrete in Kyrgyzstan is in decline, as per reports of the National Statistics Committee. Kyrgyz plants produced 729,000 tons of ready-mixed concrete (7.5% less than 2018), 76,000 tons of asbestos cement (16% more than 2018), and 11,000 tons of gypsum (75% increase over 2018).

According to the National Statistics Committee, cement exports in 2019 increased by about 30%. Shipment of products to foreign customers in Jan-Nov 2019 reached 614,000 tons ($30.9 million worth). Export growth was mainly due to the increasing cement demand in neighboring Uzbekistan — the country occupying a 90% share in Kyrgyz cement export.

The cement demand in Kyrgyzstan is 1.6 million tpa, while the design capacity of the country's plants is almost 3 million tpa. The largest cement enterprise is in the city of Kant in the Chui region. In 2018 the design capacity of the plant increased to almost 2 million tpa.
