In January-November 2020, enterprises of the Russian Federation produced 52.7 million tons of cement (Portland cement, alumina cement, slag cement and similar hydraulic cements), which is 3,2 % less than in January-November 2019. The volume of cement production in November amounted to 4.1 million tons — 5.9 % more than in November 2019 and 25.6 % less than in October 2020.
Thus, the Russian cement industry improved the results by 0.7 pp from 3.9 % in January-October.
The volume of ready-mixed concrete production in January-November amounted to 33 million m3, which is 2.2 % less than in January-November 2019. The November indicator decreased by 0.6 % versus last November and by 23.5 % versus October 2020, amounting to 2.7 million m3.
Production volumes are still lagging behind last year's numbers, but the cement industry and the construction sector in the country are gradually recovering. Anti-crisis measures of the Government of Russia and regional authorities are both the medium and long term positive factors for the industry. Support measures for the economy, essential enterprises and civilians, as well as renovation of the housing stock, implementation of integrated development projects, an increase in the share of cement-concrete roads in road construction, implementation of the “Housing and the urban environment ” national project, the implementation of the President’s social initiatives are major industry drivers.
In early December, Soyuzcement assessed the effectiveness of the state support measures for the industry and the economy.
