The cement industry in Russian Federation showed a YoY increase in production of building materials of all major types in January. Cement production (including Portland cement, alumina cement, slag and similar hydraulic cements) grew by 7.7 % to 2.5 million tons, and ready-mixed concrete — 14.2 % to 2.2 million m3.
According to Russian Railways, cement shipments by rail in January grew by 9.8% compared with last January — to 1.2 million tons.
Concrete production in Russia and the whole of last year. In 2019, a record was set for volumes - 32.7 million m3, 13% more than the year before.
According to statistics, the building materials market (Jan 2020 to Jan 2019) produced:
- sand: +6%;
- gravel and crushed stone: +5.5%;
- ceramic wall tiles: +5%;
- silicate wall blocks: +7%;
- building ceramic bricks: +10%.
Soyuzcement — the Russian cement industry association — predicted a maximum increase in production of cement by 6% in a best case scenario. In 2019, yearly cement production in Russia increased by 7.7% to 57.8 million tons, and its consumption grew by 8% YoY — up to full 57.8 million tons capacity.
