Cement production volume in Ukraine in May amounted to 926,000 tons, up by 24 % YoY and 52.5 % MoM. Cement production volume in 5M 2020 amounted to 3.158 million tons, indicating a growth of 2.3 % YoY.
Clinker production in May showed a decline of 9.6 % YoY, down to 661,600 tons. 5M 2020 period indicates a YoY decline of 6 % with 2.430 million tons clinker.
Positive YoY dynamics can partly be attributed to the decision the government of the country carried out last year. It has now almost been a year since Ukraine, in August of 2019, introduced high duties for imported goods and a complete ban on the Russian cement imports. Meanwhile, duties for all goods from Moldova (including cement) were set at 94.46 %, and duties for all goods from Belarus (including cement) were set at 57.03 %.
