CEMEX strengthens its presence in Spain

CEMEX has signed an agreement to expand its presence in regions of Madrid and the Balearic Islands. The business that CEMEX will acquire from HeidelbergCement are a limestone quarry and a waste recycling facility, as well as 3 concrete plants in the Balearic Islands. According to the company, the transaction is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2022.

In September 2021, CEMEX announced the construction of a new grinding plant. The construction is planned to be completed by the beginning of 2023. The equipment will be installed at the CEMEX plant in Guatemala. The new grinding plant will produce cement that provides low CO2 emissions.

In 2020, CEMEX's annual sales amounted to $13 billion, the company's production capacity – 95 million tons of cement, 133 million tons of aggregates and 47 million m3 of ready-mixed concrete.
