Holcim has completed the acquisition of Xella, the German leader in the walling market with projected 2026 net sales of EUR 1 billion. The transaction process began in October 2025.
Headquartered in Duisburg, Germany, Xella is present in 22 European markets and has more than 4,000 employees.
The acquisition expands Holcim’s building solutions portfolio with brands for both new build and the energy-efficient repair and refurbishment market. The portfolio includes prefabricated autoclaved aerated concrete modular systems, calcium silicate elements and mineral insulation.
The brands are underpinned by a comprehensive digital service offering. It is designed to link 3D building models using AI and Building Information Modelling (BIM) directly to digitally managed factory production, ensuring smart-building processes and just-in-time onsite delivery.
Holcim’s CEO said the acquisition advances Holcim’s NextGen Growth 2030 strategy and accelerates the company’s vision to be the leading partner for sustainable construction.
The company expects the transaction to be earnings per share and free cash flow accretive in year one, and return on invested capital accretive in year three.
