Tulachermet, the largest producer of iron in Russia, plans to build a limestone calcination plant with a design capacity of 459,000 tpa. The calcination line will be located at Tulachermet’s production site since the converter shop requires calcined metallurgical lime.
Tulachermet’s design documentation and engineering surveys for the new production has been approved by the Main Department of State Expertise of Russia [FAI Glavgosexpertiza].
The project will be completed in three stages.
At the first stage, a production facility, storage and transportation facilities, and a shaft furnace with a gas treatment plant will be built. This also includes railroad tracks, administrative and engineering facilities.
The second and third stages include capacity expansion from 153,000 tpa to 459,000 tpa with two more shaft furnaces with gas treatment plants set up at the site.
After the second stage is complete, the productivity of the limestone calcination plant will amount to 306,000 tons. The capacity expansion should be complete by 2030.
