Prices for building materials are growing in Kazakhstan

According to analysts from the monitoring agency EnergyProm, in May 2021, in one month, prices for building materials in Kazakhstan increased by 3.4%, since the beginning of the year - by 20%, and over the year - by 24.8%. In 2020, this situation was not observed. In May 2020, the monthly growth in prices was 0.6%, since the beginning of the year, building materials have fallen in price by 0.5%, and as a result they have risen in price by only 0.8% over the year.

It turned out that there are many reasons for this situation. For example, cement plants justified the rise in prices by an increase in the cost of electricity by 30%, railway tariffs - by 17%, car rental - by 13%, even paper packing bags rose by 16%. In addition, the sector is experiencing both shortages and logistical problems, which adds to the reasons for price increases.

Changes in price lists and manufacturers of other building materials are quite pessimistic. For example, gravel rose in price by 248.7% over the year, which is 3.5 times over, and limestone - by 139.2%. Prices for mortars and dry construction mixtures increased by 60.5%, for oil road bitumen - by 41.7%. Paints and varnishes, concrete building structures, crushed stone and clay have risen in price by a third. Annual price increases of just over 20% were recorded for wall blocks, window frames and steel rods.

Following the rise in prices for building materials, housing prices, as expected went up. At the end of May 2021, the cost of apartments in new buildings for the year increased by 11.8%, and in the secondary market - by 24.2%. At the same time, the monthly increase in prices compared to April 2021 amounted to 2.6 and 0.9%, respectively, rapid growth was noted precisely in the new housing sector.
