In January 2021, Belarus reduced the volume of cement imports by 80 % compared to January 2020, down to 4,500 tons. The main import partner of Belarus was the Russian Federation. Russia exported 3,500 tons of cement to Belarus in January this year — 79.4 % less than in January 2020.
The volume of cement imports from Latvia over the same period decreased by 40 %, down to 800 tons, from Turkey — by 85.7 %, down to 200 tons.
The cost of imports in January 2021 decreased by 81 % and amounted to US$ 246,000.
The volume of export of cement decreased by 29 %, down to 47,900 tons. The export value fell by 37.5 %, down to US$ 2.3 million. Russia has become the main export partner of Belarus. Belarus exported 36,800 tons of cement to the Russian Federation, which is 9.5 % less than in January 2020.
In January 2021, enterprises of the Republic of Belarus produced 7.4 % more cement than in January 2020. The volume of ready-mixed concrete production decreased by 41.8 %.
