Clinker and Lime Production Increased In Ukraine In January-February 2021

In January-February 2021, Ukrainian enterprises produced 950,500 tons of clinker, which is 8.4 % more than in January-February 2021. The volume of lime production for two months of this year increased by 6.2 % and amounted to 403,100 tons.

The volume of cement production for the same period decreased by 22.8 %, up to 724,200 tons. The volume of ready-mixed concrete production amounted to 1.4 million tons, which is 26.8 % less than in January-February 2020.

The volume of production of dry building mixtures decreased by 16.1 %, down to 116,500 tons. The volume of gypsum production decreased by 1.8 %, down to 90,800 tons.

At the end of 2020, the volume of cement, clinker and lime production in Ukraine showed an increase.

The introduction of import duties for Belarusian and Moldovian clinker and cement, along with the ban of Russian cement products on August 1, 2019, boosted the demand for local products. Duties for all goods from Moldova (including cement) were set at 94.46 %, and duties for all goods from Belarus (including cement) were set at 57.03 %. More than 80 % of cement imports are products of Turkish enterprises.
