In the first six months of 2020, enterprises of the Republic of Armenia produced 308,600 tons of cement (up by 29.4 % YoY). The production of precast concrete structures decreased by 26.6 % YoY, down to 26,900 tons.
The volume of cement imports decreased by almost 30 % YoY, to 103,700 tons.
In mid-April, the republic resumed the production of cement, as well as concrete products, which had previously been stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, it was allowed to resume some construction work. Following the results of five months of this year, the country's enterprises showed an increase in cement production by 33.9 %. Cement imports in the first five months decreased by 41.5 %.
There are two full cycle cement plants operating in the country, Araratcement and Hrazdan Cement. In addition, there are several grinding plants operating, supplying local developers with cement made from imported clinker.
