In January-July 2020, 646,000 tons of cement were imported to Ukraine (up by 19 % YoY). The volume of cement imports in July amounted to 121,000 tons. Import value amounted to USD 32.4 million.
Turkey remains the primary import partner delivering 582,000 tons of cement, worth USD 29.2 million. Cement export increased by 4 % YoY, to 434,900 tons. Romania became the main export partner of Ukraine, purchasing 232,300 tons of cement, worth USD 9.9 million.
In April, the Ukrainian government announced its intention to boost funding for infrastructure projects by 33 %. Thus, the Cabinet of Ministers of the country was going to stimulate the construction industry and the economy as a whole. As a result, the growth in cement production volumes has been maintained since Q1 2020 all the way to June.
